World Music Development

About Us

We are a 501c3 music nonprofit in Alma, Colorado. Established in August 2012 and gaining 501(c)(3) status in May 2018, our organization is led by a committed volunteer board. We are driven by the vision of fostering peace through the universal language of music. Our mission is to enhance and enrich communities by integrating music into various aspects of life. This is ultimately achieved through global artist partnerships, comprehensive music programs, and unwavering support for nonprofit initiatives.

We support projects that share our values, focusing on the five pillars of peace: education, nutrition, housing, healthcare, and economic development. We’ve had the privilege of supporting several impactful organizations, including Schools for the Children of the World, Hope for Children of Africa, Building Hope, Summit Musicians Relief Fund, Summit Habitat for Humanity, Friends of the Fairplay Library, and South Park Food Bank.

Achievements

In 2012 and 2013, our collaboration with Schools for the Children of the World and Hope for Children of Africa successfully raised funds for the Gbarnga Community Learning Center in Bong County, Liberia. Additionally, in October 2012, we supported the Friends of the Fairplay Library by producing a concert, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the organization.

Then in June 2018, we launched our WMD TRIBE Artist program. This program is a collaborative effort with select artists, musicians, and bands to bolster our fundraising through concerts and events. This initiative reflects our commitment to not just local, but global community improvement.

Another endeavor included our partnership with the Summit Musicians Relief Fund. SMRF produced a benefit concert in July 2018, where we contributed by providing free entertainment and music production through our ‘Play for a Cause’ program.

Furthermore, in 2019 our Music that Feeds program generated over 1500 pounds of food and $1000 in charitable donations for the South Park Food Bank.

Expanding our reach, we proudly presented Dulcetterra in 2020. This event project resonated with our ethos of music-driven community enhancement. Dulcetterra innovatively hosted an online music festival, conference, and songwriting camp to celebrate the International Day of Peace. This distinctive event showcased live performances by global artists, hosted music industry panels, and organized a songwriting camp. For more details, please visit Dulcetterra’s website.

Current Projects

Indie Music Alliance is a flagship digital initiative developed by World Music Development. Designed to support independent musicians, music industry professionals, and support businesses, the platform functions as a professional networking and resource hub, intentionally built outside of traditional social media models to eliminate distraction and amplify opportunity.

The project was developed by World Music Development’s President and CEO, Saam Golgoon, and was formally launched as part of his participation in the 2024 Colorado Creative Industries Change Leader program. Accepted into the program with Indie Music Alliance as the central project, the platform received a $500 seed grant from CCI and is positioned as a transformative tool for creatives statewide and beyond.

Indie Music Alliance is designed to address the systemic challenges faced by independent artists, particularly those in rural, underrepresented, or economically disadvantaged communities who often lack access to the professional tools, networks, and opportunities needed to grow sustainable careers. The current platform includes a live searchable database of artists, venues, and other related businesses that enables users to find and connect by role, genre, and geographic region.

Upcoming

Version 2.0 of Indie Music Alliance, launching in late 2025, will introduce AI-assisted tools for touring logistics, booking negotiations, and artist communications, further expanding its impact and accessibility. By integrating innovation with equity, Indie Music Alliance supports World Music Development’s broader mission to foster peace and community enrichment through music, cultural engagement, and artist empowerment.

At World Music Development, our journey is one of continuous growth, aiming to leave a lasting impact through the universal language of music.

Tell us your story

Collaboration is one of the most effective methods of reaching a common goal. If your organization’s mission is in line with our’s, we want to hear from you and hear your story. Let’s see if we can work together to make the world a better place for all through music.

What is real peace?

Is real peace just the absence of war? Can real peace exist without proper education in a community? Can real peace exist without proper nutrition in a community? Can real peace exist without proper housing in a community? Can real peace exist without proper health care in a community? And, can real peace exist without a good economy in a community? We think not!

Vision

Create peace through music.

Mission

Enhance and enrich communities by integrating music into various aspects of life. This is ultimately achieved through global artist partnerships, comprehensive music programs, and unwavering support for nonprofit initiatives.
